Aleramo’s dream

Madonnina di Serralunga

The tiny village of Madonnina grew on the provincial road to Asti down in the valley of Serralunga di Crea, of which it is a hamlet. Madonnina is famous for the pastry shop called Ceruti which produces typical sweets, among which are Torta di Aleramo, Baci di Crea and the delicious white and black Truffles. The writer Cesare Pavese, dispersed from Turin which was bombarded during the second world war, found shelter at the entrance of the village of Serralunga in Villa Mario owned by his sister Maria.
