Aleramo’s dream

Ottiglio

Ottiglio, with its lovely cluster houses, gives us an unmistakably enchanting picture that very few can compare. The castle which is placed in the most elevated place in the village, was destroyed in the sixteenth-century wars andthen changed into a residential home. A portion of the materials were used to build the eighteenth-century parish church of San Germano, which was based on Giovanni Battista Baretti’s design. In the lower part of the village an antique oratory was extended by Crescentino Caselli at the end of the nineteenth century and was dedicated to Sant’Eusebio. On the way to Sala, in the building where there is the ceramic laboratory called “Terra e fuoco”, you can visit a typical infernot, accessible from a long passage, which is rich in niches for preserving wine.
