Aleramo’s dream

Olivola

Olivola, built on the top of a hill which dominates the valley of the Rotaldo stream, passed under the control of Monferrato’s marquises who gave it as a fief to important noble families. Two particularly interesting sites are the little romantic church of the saints Pietro e Paolo situated in a beautiful panoramic position, and the ancient villa called “Bel Riposo” where Stefano Guazzo lived, author of the “Civil Conversazione” published in 1574. The aristocratic villa, later bought by admiral Camillo Candiani’s family, the last count of Olivola, houses the restaurant “Ai Cedri” that has a deep infernot. On the square, you can see the parish church of San Pietro, one of Crescentino Caselli’s works of art.
